When I said "awhile", I didn't think it would be this long!
Came across an interesting article that highlights a US claim that has been little used in Canada. The article deals with the serious downside for a company that fails to conduct proper background checks of prospective employees before hiring them. The article and can be found here.
Recently, the British Columbia Court of Appeal in Wilson v. Clarica Life Insurance Co. affirmed the trial judge's decision finding the employer liable for negligent hiring.
