The Demographic Shift and Ageism
I have written alot about the demographic shift towards an "older" workforce and the need for employers to plan for this or be left in a precarious position. Recent initiatives have been the push to end "mandatory retirement" (see also this post).The C.D. Howe Institute has another Commentary entitled Follow Quebec's Lead: Removing Disincentives to Work After 60 by Reforming the CPP/QPP. So the move should be to encourage employers to develop an approach which includes the "older worker" right? Yes, but then I read articles like this and this.
