Sexual Harassment Training - Not Mandatory, But ...
I came across a new HR Blog called HRLori by Lori Dorn that discusses the obligation under California Assembly Bill AB 1825 for employers with 50 or more employees to provide at least two hours of sexual harassment training to all supervisory employees (A Good Reminder).
There are a number of helpful publications out there including:
- AB 1825: A California Training Mandate for Supervisors (Jackson Lewis)
- Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Now Mandatory for California Employers (Littler Mendelson)
- California Legislature Mandates Sexual Harassment Training (Ford & Harrison)
It is a great idea to provide sexual harassment (and I would extend that to include workplace harassment) training to supervisors. More broadly, this should be extended to employees, generally and might be carried on in conjunction with the re-communication of a workplace harassment policy or the rolling-out of a new policy.
