Surprise Employment Standards Inspections Are Here

The Ontario Minister of Labour announced today that, over the next year, employment standards officers will conduct "2,500 surprise proactive workplace inspections to look for contraventions of the Employment Standards Act, 2000(ESA)."  There's no indication of whether the Ministry will be targeting certain employers (i.e. those with spotty employment standards records) or randomly selecting employers for inspection.
