Are Employment Standards Charges on the Rise?

I don't the answer to that question (sorry).  But my sense is that charges are becoming more prevalent under the Employment Standards Act, and otherwise.  That may not be entirely surprising given the Ministry's push on hiring and training inspectors. That said, the Ministry is laying charges and they are pursuing them.

Here's the most recent example. In this case the issue was paying former employees wages not later than the later of:

(a) seven days after the employment ends; and
(b) the day that would have been the employee's next pay day.

If you're an employer or director, for example, you need to be aware that these charging provisions exist and that they are being used.
