The Ottawa transit strike is in its 50th day and the Federal Minister of Labour has now indicated that she is prepared to legislate an end to the conflict. The debate begins today and the passage of the legislation will require opposition support.
Meanwhile, back in Ontario, the Liberal's back-to-work legislation (Bill 145) to end the York University strike will pass today on the fifth day of an emergency session of the Ontario legislature. The York U. strike lasted 3 months. Although the Union indicated that they would challenge the legislation, it now appears that they have decided not to pursue any court challenge.
