I spoke yesterday at the Law Society of Upper Canada's Six Minute Employment Lawyer Conference on Discrimination Based on Family Status: The Prima Facie Debate.
I'd like to thank my friends (and former colleagues from the distant past) Christine Thomlinson and Malcolm MacKillop for inviting me to speak at the conference as well as the LSUC for hosting this great event.
I had a chance to speak with fellow blogger Dan Michaluk who put on a great presentation entitled “Desert island cases for employment lawyers" that you can follow on Dan's blog. Stuart Rudner also spoke on Recognition of the Dependent Contractor - McKee v. Reid's Heritage Homes Ltd. It was also good to finally meet Omar Ha-Redeye (Slaw contributor). Michael Royce ran in on a recess from court to give a hilarious and highly informative presentation on Failing to Give Advance Notice is a Two-Way Street: Obligations of Employees.
All in all, a nice way to spend a Tuesday morning and it was good to reconnect with many colleagues and friends from the employment law bar.
