In 2010 I co-founded Watershed LLP, a labour and employment law boutique. Prior to that, I was an equity partner at one of Canada's largest national law firms where I practiced labour and employment law since 1993 and, since 1999 as a partner in the firm.
I have represented clients in countless cases before every labour and employment tribunal in Ontario as well as before grievance arbitrators under collective agreements.
For the past 18 years I have taught labour and employment law at University of Toronto, Woodsworth College and have taught employment law at Brock University.
I am the co-author of two books published by Carswell (Understanding Ontario’s Employment Standards Act, 2000 (Carswell, 2002) and An Employer’s Guide to the Acquisition and Termination of Bargaining Rights in Ontario (Carswell, 2001)). I have contributed chapters to numerous books and have written and spoken extensively on a broad range of labour, employment and human rights issues. I am a frequent speaker at the Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario (HRPAO), Law Society of Upper Canada, the Quebec Bar Association, Canadian Bar Association and private seminar providers. I have been interviewed on a variety of labour and employment law issues in magazines and newspapers such as McLean’s, National Post, Toronto Star, Canadian Lawyer, the Lawyers Weekly and the National Magazine (the official publication of the Canadian Bar Association) and have appeared on radio and television.
My wife, Annie and our two sons live in the Toronto area.
